MY PROMISE TO MY MOTHERLAND

by Debarghya Aich of Class-V

(Stood first in the online essay competition from Group-A)

India, my beloved motherland is traditionally wealthy of its rich culture, values, integrity, unity. My motherland was shattered by various groups of imperialists for ages and ages hence, but despite of that it is standing still and developing to become one of the greatest countries in the world. Here lies the importance of our generation. It is my solemn promise to my motherland that I will definitely broadcast my thinking, my love and gratitude. On the eve of 74th Independence Day, my first and foremost promise is to live not only for my family and me, not only to fulfill my desires and goals but also for my country. I promise to become a good student and an excellent learner. It is learning that will educate me to become a good decision maker and a better servant of the society. To work hard in every sphere of life is my next promise. My dedication to my jobs will contribute to the well-being of the society. I will be always ready to meet the need of the weaker people and help as much as possible. I will be polite and benevolent to my peers, neighbours and mostly to the helpless people. To be a part of any kind of social work such as blood donation, flood reliefs, health reliefs I will always be prepared. My motherland, I promise you that, besides enjoying the rights as a citizen, I will devote to all of the duties and responsibilities. I will abide by the laws and rules of the Nation. To me, my Nation will always come first to serve.

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA'S CONTRIBUTION TO FREEDOM MOVEMENT

by Uman Debnath of Class-VIII

(Stood first in the online essay competition from Group-B)

"If you want to know India, study Vivekananda. In him everything is positive and nothing negative."
said Rabindranath Tagore.

Swami Vivekananda was an Indian Hindu monk, the chief disciple of the 19th century Indian mystic Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. He was born on 12th January,1863, at Calcutta.
Vivekananda contributed to the concept of Indian nationalism as a tool of fight against the British empire in colonial India.
After Ramakrishna's death, Vivekananda toured the Indian subcontinent extensively and acquired first hand knowledge of the prevailing conditions in British India. He was a very generous person and wept on seeing the miseries of the Indians during British rule. He is regarded as a patriotic saint, and his birthday is celebrated as the National Youth Day every year. His main focus was on the teenagers and the youth of India and he believed that only they could again put India in her previous majestic position.
Ramakrishna and Vivekananda were the first awakeners of India's national consciousness; they were India's first nationalist leaders in the true sense of the term. The movement for India's liberation started from Dakshineswar. The subsequent political leaders of the country, consciously or unconsciously, received their inspiration from Vivekananda's messages, and some of them even openly acknowledged it. But Vivekananda was not a politician.
Vivekananda longed for India's political freedom; but he thought of a free India in relation to her service to humanity. Nationalism was a prominent theme in Vivekananda's thought. He believed that a country's future depends on its people and his teachings focused on human development.
Ultimately we can say that though Vivekananda was not a direct politician, he was concerned over the freedom of India and wanted India to be free again and be in the pick of all the other countries.

by Srideep Paul of Class-XII

(Stood first in the online essay competition from Group-C)
